Pamela Munt has always been the epitomy of Granny ‘Esmerelda’ Weatherwax, ... In Carpe Jugulum she gives what must be one of her best performances, as Granny faces the dark night of the soul.
At the same time Munt, as director, has delivered a tight and quick paced production. Pratchett’s work often suffers in the transition from book to play, with the stage plays becoming long and unwieldy. Unseen’s Carpe Jugulum has been edited and contained to two hours (including interval). The result is a short, sharp and shiny parade of quirky characters and some great one-liners.

……..Michael Coumi is very fine as randy Vlad and Sarika Young has excellent comic timing as Lacrimosa. Emma Phillips and Laraine Ball do good work as the witches and Suzanna Klarin is excellent as Emma's invisible alter ego Perdita….
Philip Lineton is an all-round success and Pamela Munt takes on the crucial roles of Granny Weatherwax, saviour of the kingdom. She and Lineton show great strength….Seize the opportunity, if you're a Pratchett fan, to catch this one.

Ewart Shaw - The Advertiser

Director Pamela Munt has hit the nail of the head in this …..tightly-told tale of witches versus vampires, set in the fantasy land of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.
Munt dons a pointy hat to assume the recurring role of all-powerful witch Granny Weatherwax, creating a much edgier character than in previous plays. She's joined by Laraine Ball, who delights as the hard-drinking, lascivious hag, Nanny Ogg, and Emma Phillips as her hefty offsider, Agnes Nitt.... but it's Philip Lineton who gets the most laughs as hunchback Igor... Other notables include Tony Cockington, Michael Coumi, Kosal Lee and Stefania Pulford. A unique and entertaining comedy.

The de Magpyrs are the sort of vampires that would have Count Dracula spinning in his grave. They are modern, forward-looking and no longer afraid of holy water, garlic, religious symbols or, indeed, of anything else.

They’re out of the casket, and want a bite of the future.

Not only that, they’ve got style and fancy waistcoats.

Little do they know, that they should be afraid – very afraid – because the Lancre witches are on hand to save the Discworld and the battle is on!

The witches are about to “kick some bat”!

Fast-moving, funny and ingenious, Carpe Jugulum is a worthy follow up to the highly successful “Maskerade”.

It is Terry Pratchett’s twenty-third Discworld novel – but the first to star vampires.

“Both his inventiveness and his moral shrewdness seem inexhaustible” – A.S. Byatt, Daily Express
